Summary

The Food Academy is an AQA accredited course which offers young people the opportunity to learn to cook and understand nutrition.

Description

The Food Academy is an AQA accredited course aimed at young people between 11-18 years of age, and runs from 10:00am – 2:00pm on Saturdays. The 6-week course was developed in response to the lack of basic cooking skills and knowledge about health and nutrition evident among many of our young Food Bank guests.

This is a fun and engaging course that teaches young people how to cook a range of nutritious meals, understand the basics of healthy eating and provides additional support with literacy, numeracy and CV writing where necessary – providing a route into future employment or apprenticeships in the catering and hospitality industry.
